Love’s Lookout, Jacksonville, TX

It is easy to pass by what appears to be another ordinary roadside rest area. Instead, you will find a quiet retreat away from the distractions that constantly bombard us.

Jacksonville has earned the title “The Tomato Capital of the World”, so it is only appropriate to be welcomed by a giant concrete tomato at the entrance. It has been a roadside park since 1934. The park is great for weary travelers and locals alike to stretch their legs, enjoy the fresh air, feel the breeze, and enjoy the overlook of the panoramic view of approximately 30 miles on a clear day.

My husband remembers having picnics here as a child with his family and we have continued this tradition through the years with our own children when they were young. Even now, with all our children grown, when we visit it takes us back to pleasant memories and feels like a mini vacation, even if we only stay about 15 minutes.

You can feel the sense of pride from those that maintain the facility. The park also has an information center, so if you are traveling through the area it is a great place to stop.

It was an overcast cloudy day, but for a moment the sun peeked through enabling me to get the beautiful skies below.

If you plan to visit you can learn more about Love’s Lookout and the wonderful town of Jacksonville. And of course, if you are looking to move to Jacksonville or the surrounding area, contact The DuPree Group to help you.
