Santa Monica Beach

After spending the afternoon at the Getty Villa Museum we headed to Santa Monica Beach. Caleb had been raving about a place where he had eaten Coastal Mexican food. While driving along the coastline I rolled down the back window to get a better view and I heard a big “THUD”. The back window would not go back up! We were about 45 minutes away from our hotel and we had all of our luggage and Caleb’s personal belongings in the car for his move back to Texas. We googled how to do a quick fix and even attempted a couple of YouTube suggestions, but NOTHING would keep the window up. Needless to say, lunch had to wait! We contemplated some duct tape, but we were afraid to risk it! We headed to a local auto shop and told them we were traveling. They graciously worked us in. Four hours later, we were on our way with a functioning window and very hungry! Peanut butter crackers only tide you over for so long!

We enjoyed our dinner at the Blue Plate Taco. We loved being able to eat outside and people watch all the passersby. Because of the window fiasco, we did not have as much time as we liked to enjoy all that the Santa Monica Pier had to offer and we had to race to see a glimpse of it because of nightfall.

As we were returning to the car we saw a large illuminated bike parade along the boardwalk playing fun, upbeat music. We had no idea what it was, or what it was for, but after doing a quick google search, we learned that it is a group that rides to promote bicycle safety awareness in a positive, upbeat way.

Tomorrow, we head to San Francisco! Thanks for dropping by!
